Angela Li is an associate of Karas So LLP.
Prior to completing her law degree, Angela had the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in family law by serving as a Marshall to a senior Hong Kong Family Court Judge (now retired) which was when she discovered her passion in the family law practice.
She has experience in both contentious and non-contentious matrimonial matters and assisted in a wide range of family matters including divorce, financial claims, custody, care and control, access and maintenance of children.
During her traineeship, Angela was seconded to a renowned local real estate law firm where she assisted in commercial projects including general lending transactions for banks and financial institutions as well as commercial and real estate acquisitions.
In addition, Angela is an accredited General Mediator of the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL).
Angela is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Key Experience
Matrimonial and Family Law
Assisted a wife on financial disputes with her estranged spouse involving assets over HK$100million which was heard in a 5-day ancillary relief trial.
Assisted a top Hong Kong Tycoon in successfully opposing his former partner’s claim for increased financial support of their children, including obtaining a judgment for separate representation of the children owing to the conflict of financial interest with their mother.
Mental Incapacity
Assisted in an application by a daughter under the Mental Health Ordinance for a committee to be appointed for her 104-year-old mentally incapacitated father to help manage his assets in Hong Kong and overseas, valued over HK$140million.
